1930 Gil Elvgren (15/3/1914-80) has been called the "Norman Rockwell (Nova Iorque 3/2/1894-1978) of cheesecake". For several generations, his lush images of gorgeous women appeared on the walls of barber shops, barracks, saloons, garages, and frat houses -- anywhere that men gathered to work or play.
The Elvgren vision of a pin-up was the attractive girl next door-a fantasy female who combined innocence with sexual availability.
